How to Take a Photos of a Fireworks Display Properly
Achieving good photographs of firework displays isn’t just a matter of taking snapshots with a smartphone, but with a bit […]
In 2023, All Elite Wrestling marked its first show outside of North America with a record-breaking debut at Wembley Stadium. The event was sold out, boasting the largest crowd in history to attend a pro wrestling event in Europe. Broadcast worldwide to over 70 countries, the event was a huge success, strengthening the European fan base. It’s therefore no surprise that AEW: All in London returns to Wembley Stadium over the bank holiday weekend on Sunday 25th August 2024. Titanium Fireworks were delighted to be asked to provide the pyrotechnics and SFX for this unique event.
Working with E1 FX, the American SFX provider, we facilitated the extensive offering to heighten and add drama to the event, firing from the famous Wembley Arch. We fired pyrotechnics, flames and confetti from all four sides of the hard roof, the top of the ring and the ground base at the performers’ entrance stage.
Rigging 32 pyrotechnics positions to the 132m high Wembley Arch is not for the faint-hearted. With a span of 315 meters, the arch is the longest single span roof structure in the world and is visible right across London. It takes a skilled rope access team three days to rig and install the bespoke cradles to the structure, run the 600 meters of data cable and attach the pyro plates — which can fire up to 72 products from each position. The installation of the arch for 2024 has already commenced, due to the busy schedule at Wembley Stadium. In particular, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour will be at Wembley Stadium for her last show just days before the AEW event. Therefore, we have had to rig the arch cradles and install the data cable network ready to receive the pyro the day before the event.
The sliding roof below Wembley Arch is somewhat of a simpler task. It still requires a good head for heights, being 52 meters above the pitch level, though! A second team of pyrotechnicians work alongside the Arch team to rig and install 48 positions around all four roof elevations, delivering nearly 2000 pyrotechnics from around the roof and over the field of play — creating a ceiling of fire.
The final element of the show is the special effects delivered ring side to enhance and dramatise each wrestler’s entrance. A range of stage pyrotechnics, flames units, silver jets, flame projectors on the four posts of the ring and finally a massive hit of confetti at the moment the champion is announced. With the 2024 event looking to be bigger and better than the inaugural event last year, Titanium Fireworks is looking forward to being part of this event for 2024.
